I thought there already was a topic about John Cale's current tour but couldn't find it. Anyway, anybody went and saw him already? I saw him last night in Hasselt, Belgium. He's got a new song called "Hey Ray" which features lyrics the likes of:
John Cale - Hey Ray wrote:1963 *can't remember*
1964 *can't remember*
1965 *can't remember*
1966 *can't remember*
1967 the golden age (or something like it)
1968 it's all over now (or something like it)
Which can only be about The Velvet Underground (and his early New York period I guess), right? Can anyone help me complete the lyrics, even though there's a lot to complete? Or just provide more information about the song. Seems interesting.
The show was fantastic as always and I got myself a signed copy of Live Circus (also great). Highlight for me was Cable Hogue. So if you get the chance to see him, don't hesitate.
of course i recognise it now - 2nd song of the show. I was still pissed off about the plump fifer with the acoustic guitar singing songs about her sad life.... Garry and I were all geared up for an 8.00 kick off and she walked on. The best thing she said was to introduce her last song.
I thought that Captain Beaky was his usual sartorial self - a very nice shirt that didn't have a wrinkle in it even at teh edn of the set. And what colour(s) was his hair?
Sometimes during the show I thought he was completely out of it, and then he would come back in BANG - straight on cue. Then in some songs (Walkin the Dog particularly) he just seemed to be deliberatlely slurring the words....
