f*** - despite his liver transplant and near-death earlier this year, I was not prepared for this!
He was 71.

Sad sad..he was looking very frail at the London Transformer event recently but I was hopeful that he was turning around.

Terribly sad news, but I can't help but be happy for Lou and the life he got to lead. After he went away to college (i.e., escaped his parents), he did what he wanted and lived life on his own terms.

"Between thought and expression, lies a lifetime."

Those thoughts, and their expression, were his life.

RIP, Lou. Thanks for everything.

I was just having a conversation this morning with someone over favorite bands - he asked me if everyone in the VU was alive. I said only Sterling Morrison and Nico had passed away - guess I was wrong

I saw him several times on stage, always a good performer but with his health problems we must be prepared to this sad new.

Literally just heard the news, so popping in to pay my respects. Thanks for the tunes
