Does anyone have a copy of this for trade? If not, does anyone have a copy of the complete reed cale wilson interview? PM me if you do.

Thanks,

Peter

One of the rarest (or probbaly the rarest) VU record. I have never seen it. Neither the P/S reproduced anywhere.

Good question. I remember there was a picture disc bootleg of it many years ago (which I don't have anymore). This ran 7:11, and (if I remember right) was the same thing on both sides of the record - I never knew if this was intentional, or if it was a mispress and I only ended up with half of the thing! There's also an edited version (3:59) on the "What Goes On" Australian boxed set. At least some of this duplicates what's in the 7:11 version - but I'm not sure exactly how they compare without re-listening to them both.

There's also clips from the interview in the Falling in Love with The Falling Spikes bootleg, used to great effect (as I remember: John talking about making music from the weather and an edit from an instrumental section from a warhol film following on).

I think it's so rare that nobody even knows how long the interview is!
I have a CD-R including the 7 mins, and some other (radio) interviews, but they are actually very very boring.

Okay... here's what I know is available:

(from 12" record - 7:11)
Evidently the contents of (at least) side one of the record. Wilson introduces Cale and Reed, talks about Lou's boots (plays "CC Rider" by Eric Burden and the Animals). Wilson talks about the members of the VU. Lou talks about how they began and finding Sterling on a subway. Wilson mentions sex doesn't matter insofar as having Moe as a girl drummer is concerned (part of this stuff is on the "What Goes On" box). Wilson then asks Cale about what he's been up to lately. Cale talks about the instruments he plays, and then Wilson plays a Richie Havens song. Afterwards, Wilson asks about "The Gift."

(From "What Goes On" - 1:55 not on previous source)
Wilson asks about plans for the VU, and Lou talks about making a tape that could be played all day long every day, and is personalized. Wilson then introduces "White Light White Heat".

(From "A Walk With The Velvet Underground", presumably a lift from the vinyl "Falling In Love With The Falling Spikes" boot, 3:11 not on either source above)

Cale talks about an eastern stringed instrument, then creating music that alters weather, or creates low frequencies that can kill people.

Anyone know of anything else?

I just sent a 14 minute copy to the yahoo account. It's in AAC format. It's not complete, but is the longest copy I've heard. It may just be missing a short bit at the beginning that is on the pic disc. I don't have a digital copy of that or I would have tacked it on, sorry.

I remember going through the master tape to see if there was anything interesting on it to include on the VU&Nico deluxe set. The non-VU side is mostly MGM promo spots for 1967 or 68. The only other VU related bit is a radio ad for Chelsea Girl which was to be a bonus track separating the VU and Nico material on the deluxe set.

Cool. Do you know if the outtakes for the Chelsea Girl LP exist?
