Which is the best??

I have the four VU studio albums but none of the live recordings. Due to a tight budget and little spending money, I can't purchase everything at once, although I plan to overtime. So my question is, which is the best live recording (Max's Kansas City, Live 1969, Le Bataclan, etc) to purchase? Any opinions would be welcomed. Cheers!

To purcahse? I like Max's more, but 1969 has more energy.

To download: La Cave: Live 68, or the Guitar Amp Tapes or this show with Cale that ISN'T the Warhol Museum one.

Shame your budget is tight, otherwise I'd have recommended The Quine Tapes. Better than 1969 because the band have room to roar. Maybe you should plan in some overtime

1969 first. check ebay, amazon, overstock.com and half.com for albums, you can sometimes get a pretty good discount if you buy used (just make sure they don't get you with shipping!)

oh, and used record stores. they're fun because sometimes you can find non-official bootlegs which are usually cheaper than regular ones.

From what I heard on the PSAS box 'What Goes On' the Live '68 bootleg is far superior sound quality than Problems in Urban living. Is it the same recording, just cleaned up much better?

Wouldn't it be awesome if someone who had Live '68 put this on dimeadozen, or even PMed me about it? ;)
