Surprise! I bet you thought another '74 show was coming!! Well, I know I said I am going in order, but I am also gonna backtrack every once in a while and put up early stuff.

Now, the Tots are either right on the money, or they suck. This happens to be a great example of them at their best. Very similar arrangements to the "American Poet" performance. Lou was in full singer/songwriter mode, talking to the crowd, giving introductions to several songs, announcing when choruses come in...

As for the recording quality, it isn't great. At the beginning of the recording you hear the taper adjusting mic levels and the sound is a bit muffled. The muffled sound clears up quickly, but there is significant tape hiss. I did not attempt to filter the hiss at all. I don't suggest you do, either.

I would grade this as a "B-". It's the Tots, so for me to say "For Completists Only" would be redundant! It is well worth being in your collection, completist or not, because it shows solo Lou at a very early stage before coming into his own as a solo performer.

(I love the pic of chubby Lou on the cover - obviously before the amphetamines started working their magic!)

Enjoy!!!!

MY COMMENTS:

Did a few searches and as a result I haven't seen this One here. The sound is as to be expected for a Nothern English students' recording equipment circa 1972!!! To me it truly does sound like a velvets 60s recording with a polite but quietly restrained audience and Lous' gentle vocals over [sometimes] the top of the Tots audio mayhem. I have added an ffp file, md5 file and st5 file to the original torrent I downloaded and also renamed the tracks by adding a 0 before the numbers 1 to 9 in order to make the ffp,, md5 and st5 print outs to look more coherent I got this from DC++ and when I find the generous traders' name who shared this with me I'll post it in this torrents' thread.
Please enjoy, seed, share but DON'T sell
Cheers

Thank you to the original uploader(s)!

This one doesn't seems to be on the tracker right now. Just thought to get it up, as the London '72 (15th July 1972) was uploaded by inkyfingers (THANKS!) a few days ago.

Probably not the best sounding one, hiss is present all the time, but it's listenable if you crank up the volume a bit. IT'S LOU!!!

Please, check the sample!

Thank you to everyone who is seeding these great Lou shows here on Dime !!!
