Anyone going to see Lou on the upcoming tour?
I'm nipping over to Amsterdam to see him at the Concertgebouw - will you be there Arjan?

I'll be in attendance in Liverpool-no London gig this time for some reason.
Can't even begin to understand why he keeps touring without a drummer though, especially when he has the wonderful Tony 'Thunder' Smith at his disposal!

This is going to sound like sacrilege, but no -- I won't be there

. I'm not too interested in Lou solo, not enough to warrant travelling to Amsterdam and staying in a hotel anyway.

To Dr Bob,
Lou's last London show was complete with Tony

Everybody who's going to see him don't forget to post your reviews...

Yes Elvis I was there and Tony was phenomenal! Which is exactly why I don't understand Lou playing without him twice now in the last 3 tours, and recording Animal Serenade without drums as well. But I guess He knows best in His infinite wisdom...

Perhaps Lou wanted a more "fluid" sound, which would go with the Tae-Bo dude. I would imagine the cello chick would be drowned out if drums were present.

Yeah good theory except last time I saw Lou he had both Tony and Jane in the band (and no Master Ren!) and the sound was just perfect. And after all the presence of drums never drowned John Cale out in the VU and a cello is even louder than a viola...
What I'm wondering about the upcoming tour is whether Lou is going to test the waters with any new material he's written for his debut on the Sanctuary label

I took this pic in Amsterdam - I was in the third row, so I had a good view!
Quick review:
Superb start to the gig 30-40mins real cooking stuff! Lou looking relaxed, jamming and enjoying the gig - even played the bass on one song! Then 30 mins slow, introspective stuff (talking book etc.) but then he didn't really bring it up at the end, Blue Mask sounded good but a perfunctory 'Perfect Day' and he was gone.
