here's a few areas which could do with some research
1. Sterling interviewed on camera in Texas (?) 1969. There is a photo in Doug Yule's book which clearly shows Sterling being interviewed while being filmed. I dont think it has ever been discovered when and where this interview took place, or whether it was ever broadcast?
2. VU roadies: where are they now? I seem to recall the names Dave Faison and Hans Onsager, but have never seen any more details re their whereabouts. They would have a wealth of interesting details about the VU.
3. LOu and John on Dick Clark's "Bandstand" TV show in 1965. I am certain this actually happened, because many years ago their contracts for that appearance were offered for sale in Goldmine magazine. Was that appearance recorded or archived?
Anyone fancy applying themselves to any of the above?

That's an interesting list, I also remember some mention of VU being featured in Vogue in '65 or '66.

What I wish I or someone had the time to do was try and track down the sources for all those live gig tapes featuring Cale, apparently researched and listed in WGO 1 & 2 as referenced on the olandem site.

Here is an educated guess! Perhaps they appeared as backup musicians? I know that AB was a lip-synching show, but they did occasionally have backup musicians pretend to play along.

It looks like Pickwick producer Terry Phillips was asked to bring The Primitives on the show to promote the Ostrich. Looking at the AB episode guide, I don't see a Primitives appearance: http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/Ep ... Bandstand/

That Italian article is dubius at best. It says that Angus MacLease departed the band AFTER they met Warhol, because he didn't like being paired with Nico.

I have "WGO 1 + 2", but not sure it's any help. It's my understanding that the list was a compilation of all the tapes which people who contacted WGO claimed they had or had heard. I have never been convinced that it was anything more than a fantasy list. eg there are some obviously incorrect dates/venues. Only Phil Milstien or MC Kostek could say where that list originally came from (and even they may not remember now)
2. re the Dick Clark show: I have been kicking myself ever since for not buying that Reed/Cale contract documentation which was sold via Goldmine. But I recall other references to the appearance in various places and it was supposedly the Primitives promoting "The Ostrich", however unbelievable that may seem now...
Someone mentioned the appearance in Vogue - that should be easily confirmable? Anyone fancy looking around the web for a record of it?

re: Vogue - the colour photo of the Primitives in their long coats is from Vogue - it's mentioned in What's Welsh For Zen; although the repro isn't full colour in the book, I've seen it in colour somewhere.

On my last trip to NY in 2001 I tried to find a library which carried bound back issues of Vogue to find the source, but it wasn't held in any publicly accessible collection there...
