Maybe I'm being picky but can Melody Laughter really be called a song? Isn't it a piece of free improv? I wonder if it and things like Booker-T should be included.

It depends what do you consider under "song" , really...
I am very deep into free improvisation as a genre and i must say i am as confussed as you are.. does song has to have melody in it?
