hey Guys..new to this forum.
I found it off a link from the great "Cooking For The Down Five" site.

i thought this place would be 'a natural' to the answer this inquiry

1. One of my favorite Lou Reed albums (Rock And Roll Animal) and its companion-piece, "Lou Reed Live" come from the same concert, being that of
December 21, 1973, at Howard Stein's Academy of Music in New York
..but you all know that.

But do you know if ANY album exists, commercial, bootleg, foreign, limited edition release...whatever...that would have this Particular concert with all the songs in correct running order?

One would think it would be ?a natural? for a Limited Edition release.

Any info you have is much appreciated.

2.On a related note I am one of the many fans of the guitar work of Steve Hunter & Dick Wagner on Rock And Roll Animal...do any quality concerts...again bootlegs, limited edition, foreign...whatever...exist for concerts that had that pair backing Lou Reed....hopefully to the great quality of Rock And Roll Animal.

I would really appreciate your expertise.

You can just put the songs from two albums together in this order, and its pretty seamless:
Intro - Sweet Jane - How Do You Think It Feels - Caroline Says I - I'm Waiting For The Man - Lady Day - Heroin - Vicious - Satellite Of Love - Walk On The Wild Side - Oh Jim - Sad Song - White Light/White Heat - Rock And Roll

Impressed by the "Sister Ray" version on the named bootleg, I'd like to know where I can actually find it ... I would even buy it ...

In this week's Crawdaddy there is a great article written by Dinky Dawson about him being with Lou on the 1973 Rock & Roll Animal tour. There are a few great insights and a link at the end to a Youtube video of Lou singing WOTWS in Paris in the leather suit and whiteface, obviously pretty amped up, one I had not seen previously. A super read and a cool video.

bobbldr, great post. I enjoyed the video link very much. But Lou Reed looked so uncomfortable as a lead without his guitar in those days.

Whilst in the youtube section I saw this French tv(?) video of Sweet Jane with Lou as a blond in 74. He looks so much better as a blond and more relaxed as a performer. He's learnt some new dance moves and they've (the band) funked it all up. I like the way the camera is allowed to movie in around the musicians before Lou comes in. The band are incredible ? I don't mean the playing I mean the way they look. Everyone has been to the stylist (apart the organist). I wonder whether these musicians always dressed like that or was it just for the show. It's certainly such a far cry from the Velvet Underground in 67/68.

Are there any dvds of Lou at the period? I grew up with Lou then and find watching this stuff fascinating as I'd forgotten how utterly weird the early 70's were.

That show is available as a bootleg dvd called "It's Nicer In The Dark", And it is actually from Brussels. It's only about 6 songs, all of which can be found on Youtube. Or at least could have been a while ago. If memory serves they are S.Jane, Lady Day, Ride Sally Ride, Waiting, Vicious and something else. I have it buried somewhere and if you pm me I could send you a burn when I dig it out. I have to say that there is a bunch of great sounding soundboards of shows from that 74 era. I really love the sort of proto-punk-junkie-funk sound he has from this period. Really sleazy and cool sounding, the feel on these concerts is always very organic. To me it never sounds like someone who is touring a top 10 album. Just trashy and very unique imho.

I have a friend who had the complete Houston 1974 show, before it was stepped on. His copy
was in color. A divorce escorted his beta copy into a dumpster, along with others.

Rather sad if it's true.
