Maybe I didn't find the thread where it is being discussed... Are there any comments about the new Johan Kugelberg - The Velvet Underground New York Art- Rizzoli book?
I'd be very interested in your opinions.

People that have seen "previews" of the book say that we won´t be dissapointed.
For people that likes pics and memorabila, will be a MUST.
I´m really looking forward having it in my hands.
There will be one regular and one deluxe

As I pointed out earlier, the deluxe seems to have 7" single. What's on it? And it also costs over ?100.

I only found them listed here: http://www.rizzoliusa.com/catalog/resul ... mit=submit

Amazon.com has reduced the prices to $31.50 (was $50) for the normal edition and to $189 (was $300) for the Deluxe Edition.
The deluxe will be released on October 27, the standard should be available since October 9, 2009. (?) Amazon tells that it ships within 1 to 3 weeks an it is also listed under "recently published" at Rizzoli... but it seems that nobody has received a copy yet.

I hope we'll get some nice unreleased recording for the single... (but I doubt it). :(

It is 2 unreleased versions of What Goes On. Studio spring '68 and live summer '68, by the VU with John.

just kidding

sorry

I did read a description of this at Amazon and a there is mention of a recording of a
conversation between Lou and John done especially for this book. It includes contributions
from Maureen. I am thinking that may be what the 7" is all about. Maybe it will have their photo on
it and one will ask the other "what is this record here in the book.?"
The other will respond "it is the record we are making right now."

Just like AW's Index.

Lou Reed and john Cale talking? To each other? That's more far-fetched than your joke about unreleased Cale versions of WGO!

As far fetched goes, there was a person who posted occasionally on Sabotage2@yahoogroups.com (John Cale
discussion list) who was John's gofer/secretary. He insisted that the feud between Lou and John was
played up beyond reality. He said the two see each other often. They can't work together but
seem to be friends. This guy insisted that there were things he saw in John's life that John
told him to never reveal.

How real all that was, may never be seen or known. However the times I have met Lou and John
I have had more pleasant encounters with Lou, charming Lou.

Anyway Lou and Laurie, (Lou's stand-in for his unconsumated love for John) have yet to release
a recording though they have, and are working together. I am inclined to guess that maturity has
tempered Lou's youthful enthusiasm in jumping into working relations with those of similar
dispositions (to venture musically.) In this case, Laurie is Lou's spouse and creative warfares
could render him lonely.

My point being that professional frictions/experimentations/more Mr Rain's, Sister Rays aside, Lou
and John like each other.

The bottom line being, I guess, I may not know, but I guess.

A great story to be filmed, not by Oliver Stone, though Martin may get his oscar yet.

Thanks. A thoughtful response.
