Thats great never seen it before..

Talking of different covers my favourite one was the alternative sleeve for 'White Light / White Heat' when MGM reissued it for the Archetypes series in 1974.

It shows 2 people with motorcyle helmets on standing infront of a Woolworths store. Its very very strange..It has zero connection the album content, makes me laugh everytime I see it..Olandems VU site has a pic of it.

I really like the tin soldiers WL/WH cover.

I thought the two people in helmets were Reed and Cale. Is the "tin soldiers" cover the one that's mostly gray with psychedelic patterns on it? Good cover.
I never liked the 1969 cover. Ooooooh, an aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaass, that'll sell music. It's supposed to have been taken by some seminal photographer, I think.

What cracks me up about the auction is that under that picture he adds the phrase, "Thanks for looking!"

Actually, I think it was one of the more daring covers of it's time. It comes off more decedant than titillating - slightly vulgar instead of sexy. And there's definately something "New York" about it; even though the girl is being "objectified," I picture her being confident and indifferent, like she wouldn't waste a thought about street scum like us gawking at her. :P

Hey Chance, I dont know about how daring that was. What about Blind Faith's topless underage cutie?! THAT was daring...and BANNED!

I doubt that. Why would Reed & Cale have gotten together in '74 to take a picture outside a Woolworth's for a budget reissue of WL/WH...? Plus that's not exactly the kind of clothes Reed was into wearing at the time!

It was a 1976 UK issue that i much prefer to th "real" cover (that's blasphemous, I know - sorry!).

I concur. As a matter of fact I always found it pretty embarassing that my favourite band has such an ugly album! Though I can also see what Chance is saying but... still... nah.

Yeah, me too. In fact, it is the sleeve I saw first. Friend of mine in polytechnic had the UK reissue. I was rather disappointed when I went to the record store to buy the CD and saw a dull plain black sleeve (not even a skull, it was the mid-eighties first CD issue)

As for 1969, the original sleeve is rather ugly (how about that title typeface?) but this orange concoction is even worse.

I thought I had read that somewhere. That photo could have been taken late sixites, judging from the clothes (especially the peacoat on "Cale".) If I ever find the source (web, magazine, otherwise) where I heard that from I'll post it.
Either way, nice cameo from the photog. :)
