Track 7

Music track number 7 on our Velvet Underground CD is an improvised fairly traditional (Delta? Memphis? Chicago?) blues edited out from a practice session dated 1-3-66. Its very listenable, no feedback or white noise (unless you consider the off-rhythm maracas...). Guitar, bass, rhythm guitar, maracas. No vocals or drums. It is 5 minutes and 17 (or 18) seconds in length. RealPlayer says 5:17, but the printed label on the jewel case reads 5:18.

we had only a few copies made of the original CD: one for each band member, their lawyer, and ourselves. that was all! we have no rights to produce and sell copies of it, otherwise we would've long ago. there was interest by polydor in issuing it a few yrs back, but they never have.
and mo rinfo!

wow, thats weird, i don't remember hearing that they were defective. whatever. i'm glad that people can listen to them. i wish that polydor would issue it - i think it was sal mercuri who was working on it. also, btw, the cd is only selected highlights from 3 reels of original recordings. but a lot of them are just muffled conversation and noodling around.
where is rosie these days?

Additionally, those reels have been secured in an underground storage facility in London for quite some time. It is very doubtful they wil ever see the light of day again. We here at the museum have been trying to get hold of them for quite some time. It seems that the owner of them is a reclusive old executive who refuses to part with them. His family has actively been trying to reason with him to no avail. In particular, his son and grand-daughter, who have been in contact with Polydor, have tried to at least permit some people to HEAR them, let alone record them.

I should add that the above comment isn't directed at the original 'guest' at the top here, who actually posted something fairly useful and interesting. The rest of you Rosie obsessives and fantastists - get the f*** over it. We haven't got track 7, we're not going to get track 7, it's not particularly special anyway, and we're incredibly lucky to have got what we have from the Warhol CD. Now can we please all close the book on this and get on with our lives?

Thank goodness Mark is here to tell us what is useful and interesting, I'm sure Homme Fatale and Ferges are grateful to him for telling us what we can or cannot talk about on this forum - he does it so nicely too!
