Lou Reed - 1998-08-14 - Bohager's, Baltimore, MD

The next few Lou Reed shows that I'm going to seed are re-posts of shows that I seeded in the Summer of 2007 when the European tapers were recording the "Berlin" shows and getting them up hours later. I found myself listening to a concert recorded in Amsterdam only hours after the show had ended. What a world. Thank you to those tapers and all of you who tape and share your music with the rest of us.

This is one of my favorite Lou Reed shows of all time. Up there with Tokyo, October 26, 2000. It has a great setlist and the band is there to play from the first note. I especially like the moment where you can hear the taper tell some idiot that he didn't pay good money to listen to conversation (I'm paraphrasing). Songs like Hooky Wooky, Kicks, Into the Divine, and Riptide crackle and shine as Uncle Lou tells us what it's really all about.
