I recall reading a quote of Lou Reed's that he said when talking about the VU's experiences in San Francisco. Something to the nature of:

All those bands are just the worst

Is this what you meant?

"We had vast objections to the whole San Francisco scene. It's just tedious, a lie and untalented. They can't play and they certainly can't write. I keep telling everybody and nobody cares. We used to be quiet, but I dont even care any more about not wanting to say negative things, 'cause things have gone so far that somebody should really say something. You know, people like Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, all those people are just the most untalented bores that ever came up. Just look at them physically, I mean, can you take Grace Slick seriously? It's a joke, it's a joke, the kids are being hyped."

"my week beats your year" is my all-time favourite Lou quote. I think it originally appeared as part of the MMM sleeve notes. I dont think that there is any doubt that he's alluding to his amphetamine habits....."when you've been up for 5 days...." etc etc

Lou is very quote-able. Take No Prisoners has a lot of great quotes in it. I like when he quotes Yeats: " 'The best lack all conviction and the worst are full of passionate intensity' -- now you figure out where I am!"

And also, "I don't need you to tell me I'm good!"

Oh, and I just thought of one more from TNP. "What's wrong with cheap, dirty jokes? f*** you. I never said I was tasteful. I am not tasteful."

When I saw Lou in concert this past November, he was very talkative. This is a quote from the show I saw: "I don't touch money and I don't tune my own guitars."

I remember some great one from Warhol when was questioned about ''if VU. were a colour?'' and he anwered that would be WHITE.
The ordinary Warhol's quote that means nothing or too much....
