If anyone is in NYC this Sunday, Johan Kugelberg is doing a pop up show of "BAFFLING Velvet Underground ephemera pre-Café Bizarre" on Ludlow Street. Alas, I will not be in town, i wish i could see it. Here are a couple of instagram posts about it.

The 28th May 65 Dream weapon poster - do you happen to remember if it was this one?



That's the one shown on Olivier's date with the same date, but that seems to be a mistake as it's pretty clearly labelled 2nd-7th Nov. Which would fit with them apparently being billed as the Velvets at this, whereas other fliers have them playing as The Falling Spikes as late as August...

I was not there but I believe the flyer is an earlier version that is dated May 28 and has 85 E. 4th as the address. Needs further investigation!

Ah, that's interesting. It does look like the image I posted has bits scribbled out. Can anyone confirm?

It was in the pop up show, not sure why I didn't take a pic.
I don't recall there being any scribblings in the margins.

msatlof, you are correct - this was the original flyer (May 28), they repurposed it for that November flyer.

The other question, then, is whether the mention of the Velvets on the other side of that poster was contemporaneous with the May 1965 event, or a note made later. Probably impossible to know.
