Ever since seeing photos of The Velvet Underground wearing sunglasses, I have developed a thing for the sunglasses look. I'm particularly intrigued by the wraparound-style sunglasses that Reed and Sterl wore. I've found that sunglasses of that particular style just aren't that common. These days, wraparound classes tend to look like they were designed by someone who made alien spaceship props for movies; and I don't think they were that common in the past. Reed's and Sterl's are uniquely elegant, such that they look like they were designed by a vintage guitar or violin maker or a vintage sports car designer. So I've been collecting sunglasses that look like that with the intention of taking high-res photos of them on and off model(s) and 3D-scanning them so that anyone with access to a 3D-printer who wants a pair can make one. I'm also interested in sending the images to sunglasses manufacturers to encourage them to make similar types. I've recently come across a pair of sunglasses that are very similar to the ones The VU wore—best described as a cross between Reed's and Cale's—but I don't have the money to buy them: a measly eighty dollars. I was hoping someone else here would buy them and subsequently provide the requisite images for my project.
