For Discussion of The Velvet Underground

Thanks for the heads-up. I listened for a couple of minutes then bookmarked the site so I could return later ... but it just didn't grab my attention.
LOL! If being the singer/guitarist of both Galaxie 500 and Luna doesn't make you a consequential musician (particularly in the lineage of the VU) then I don't know what does. I guess it's just the Rolling Stones and Katy Perry for you.peppergomez wrote: ↑31 Jan 2023 02:41 That guy is not a very consequential musician so I'm surprised anyone would want to hear what he has to say
I'm not going to get into a pissing match about this since everybody is entitled to their own taste. My take on bands like Galaxie 500, Luna and a few other of those style bands is that they have certainly done a good job of adopting the attitude or vibe of 3rd album-era VU but that their song writing skills are not anywhere even close to Lou Reed's in terms of writing memorable songs with lyrics that matter to people. Downtown hipster heroin art chic was only one small facet of The Velvet Underground's identity whereas for those type of bands it's almost the entire thing.fletchercjohnson wrote: ↑31 Jan 2023 18:04LOL! That being said, the Jokermen podcast is a humor podcast that I don't personally find very funny so I'm not recommending the episode either
