50th Anniversary

Post by Kill Mick »

So I see The Doors 50th Anniversary bandwagon releases have started rolling... do we think there'll be any to mark the 50th Anniversary of the release of VU&N this year, WL/WH next, etc.?

Personally I'm a bit fed up with Super Deluxe Editions/box sets. The only thing I'd like to see this is year is a nice stand-alone double CD of the Valleydale, remastered from the original tapes, complete, no edits in Melody Laughter, all in-between chatter in place, the works. Any other suggestions/rumours?

Of course! There will be a newly remastered box set with a small vial of Lou's cremated remains for those willing to shell out an extra $150 for the Super Mega Deluxe 50th Anniversary Reissue! The reissues are now being handled by Gene Simmons.

Can't see how they could justify it. A proper replica of the LP? Tip-on cover etc.

Valleydale is past it's own 50th anniversary.

True, but the original official release was part of the 45th anniversary VU&N so I kind of lumped it in with that. Regardless, I still think it deserves a proper release in its own right, but highly doubt it'll ever happen.

Hope they are soundboard quality for these incredible prices. But the dates are familiar to me.

Just more 'remastered' bootlegs of the old '69 Tea Party gigs. Not much of a way to celebrate 50 years of VU&N.

I don't know if this might be of any interest?
The Velvets are a gathering of UK based musicians/fans of The Velvet Underground, joined together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the groups’ first album release ‘The Velvet Underground and Nico’.

Two stars from the Times (UK not NY) also https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/pop- ... -pzqpjsrw9 but you have to pay or register to see the whole article.

But what a tale his guests will tell in 50 years time.
