This is one in a series of straight reseeds that I'm going to do from the pre-2007 Dime days, by request. With thanks to the original uploader, whose notes follow below.
There's some uncertainty about the correct date of this concert. It definitely took place during the European tour in late 1977. It was originally seeded dated December 6th, 1977, but over on Philippe Carly's photo website @ http://www.newwavephotos.com/JohnCale.htm the date is given as the first of December. I'm rather inclined to go with that one, as Carly was definitely there and presumably took note of the date (and as far as I can tell, his other dates are pretty reliable).
As for the location, this is usually indicated as "Aula". That makes sense, given that Leuven is a university city. At the time, however, a number of concerts were set up in one of the student restaurants, Alma 2. The Sex Pistols, for instance, were due to play there after their US tour, on January 31st, 1978 (http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2654285). I tend to to think that Cale & band performed there, too; Philippe Carly's photos would seem to support that guess.
This recording is far from perfect, but it's reasonably clear and free from distortion. Definitely listenable!
