This picture was taken Dec 11, 1965 while Myddle Class were on stage...minutes before the Velvet Underground had made their first paid gig...half of these lucky people (policemen included) were there
The stage:

Hello,
Found Myddle Class Newletter from 1966 January, in which the Myddle Class gig is reviewed (pages 6-11) with a small mention of the Velvets (page 7):
"Scott came onstage again (ed.: after the first group 'The Forty Fingers') and introduced the Velvet Underground, three young men and a girl. Half the audience loved their "different-weird" sound. The other half left the theater."
At the end of the review is mentioned "that someone had stolen one of the Myddle Class taperecorder, valued at $300." (no mentioning of who was suppected for that, later Aronowitz has blamed the Velvets for taking it).
Scans of the whole newsletter (nr.4 1966.Jan) and more info (and pictues) about the Myddle Class are here:
http://www.garagehangover.com/myddle-class-ephemera/
Allas no pics of the Velvets included.
Greetings, Mangue
PS: alfredovu's pictures above seem from the same Newsletter

More likely the sticky fingers belonged to the 40 Fingers.

That Al Aronowitz likes to blame The Velvet Underground for missing tape recorders. How do we know where
he got the Wollensak that he later claims was taken by the band?
Mangue, nice find, btw.
EDIT - I didn't get that this was the same tape recorder story, only now the machine belongs to the Myddle Class, until I read the al Aronowitz article that was just posted...

I found following at
https://www.facebook.com/barbararubinfilm from 28th January 2023:
Tomorrow night 1/27 @roxycinemanyc

It’s a Velvet Underground celebration! Come out and dig Jonas’ Warhol film in 16mm, a music doc featuring @leeranaldo and Pascal Comelade, and a
surprise screening of some Barbara footage from the VU’s very first public show on Dec. 11, 1965.
And even a Q & A with @ignaciojuliacampos and @thurstonmoore58

I have never seen that still of Lou behind the mic before...plus the other images seem to be various shots of The Myddle Class on stage...this is VERY interesting! Here's praying the film has sound!
