A couple of years ago, on this thread, Sheila Klein was kind enough to upload a copy of the 1966 boot CD. Even in the wake of the VU&N deluxe edition, this apparently offers the best sounding rendition of the Columbus show - notably, there are no cuts in Melody Laughter and no diginoise in Heroin. For some reason I never got round to downloading it at the time and the links are now extinct. Would anyone out there be kind enough to re-upload this release?

Nay, that's a rip of the original vinyl release which just has the instrumentals. There's a CD version from the '90s which has the whole thing.

That was a result of a request from me, because I determined that there was an arbitrary edit in 'Move Back' (removing about 15 sec. towards the end -- in the middle of the performance -- presumably in an attempt at refining the performance). However, the Valleydale Ballroom performance has recently been officially released, with no edits -- not even between tracks -- therefore I would consider that to be the definitive version of this recording ('45th Anniversary Box Set')

Not only that, but 'Melody Laughter' is cut off and faded out! 'Nothing Song' might be too, I didn't check.

Are you sure? I've not heard the 45th set but the view seems to be that it's a rip of Move Back - the diginoises in Heroin are certainly there.

My observations based on the track Heroin.

EDITING
Move Back is the least edited with extra sound at the start and tuning after the hand-claps at the end.
45th misses out the tuning at the end and a brief bit of sound at the start.
1966 is the most edited without the 'heroin' intro.

SPEED
Move Back and 45th run at the more or less the same speed.
1966 runs slower.

SOUND
Move Back and 45th sound very much the same. Looks like something was done to the Move Back signal. Maybe a little noise reduction at the top end.
1966 has been transferred at a lower level.
1966 is brighter suggesting that it ha been processed to give it more bite.


I think Move Back and 45th use the same source. I cannot imagine UMG actually copying a bootleg CD and I suspect the spectral analysis shows otherwise.
I can't hear any 'diginoise' in Heroin nor see anything obvious in the spectral analysis. At what time does it occur? I can hear a few tape glitches towards the end of both versions of Move Back and 45th. I haven't listened to 1966 version all the way to the end.
