This concert was taped over 21 years ago and my memories of it are getting
hazy so here are some random comments about this evening so many years ago.
I'm + that there was no opener ; I DO recall that there was a stage announcement
before the show started that no one would be seated after the concert began.
People would have to wait until intermission to claim their seats. I remember
thinking "Wow, that Lou is a real stage Nazi !" I'd seen him once before at
the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh, PA on May 11, 1978 when he was quite a bit
more popular. I'd kill for a tape of that show. A lot of people were there
that night in 1992 but IIRC it was not sold out. The fans around me were
amazingly well-behaved ; you'll hear a little talking here & there but nothing
that'll make you grab your battle axe. I was seated in section 1, 1st row of the
lower mezzanine, seat 124 so my placement was fantastic. Nothing in front of me
but open air. I'll let the music speak for itself ; sometimes Lou's vocals are
louder than other times but I think you'll be very pleased with the overall
result. I'd never heard anything from Magic and Loss before this night and some
of those songs are depressing big-time. This was sadly the last time that I would
ever see Lou Reed but he still had 21 years left so if you have some good Lou
concerts, please up them, especially that 1978 Pittsburgh show that I attended.
That's pretty much all that I have to say about the show, so let's get this gem
on the path to spiritual enlightenment...
No buy, no sell, no mp3. Please seed this as long as you can.
This tape has NOT been circulated so JUMP ON IT !!! A very
high-energy show in which everybody shines. I will post a sample
or two shortly for those of you still undecided but I think you'll
find that this is an excellent-sounding tape and a welcome addition
to any Lou Reed fan's collection. Well, thanks for reading this and
Mr. Natural would like to add these few comments: have fun, say a
prayer for Lou Reed and Andrew Warhola and by all means, enjoy the
concert!!!
