This touches on a topic I've thought about for years: why do we love the Rock Heroes that we choose to love? So, okay, why do i love Moe?
In no particular order-
1) The social role she played in the VU was critical to their identity, maybe she was the glue holding them together, or the soul of the band, whatever words describe it... (and then reprising that role for the reunion)
2) her musical contributions to the VU, both studio & live...
2a) Playing standing up, beating on trash cans
3) For being upset when John left, and sad when Lou left
4) For creating & releasing "Playin' Possum"
5) For not playing in a series of crap bands after the VU
Now, here's my point- it makes no sense to look at all these things, and say, "gosh, I wonder what her political beliefs are? Maybe, because of 1-5 above, I ought to look to her for insight into political & social issues". No. The reasons I love the Rock Stars that I love have nothing to do with how cleverly & wisely they may-or-may-not choose their political beliefs. unless they write songs about them.
