Seems to me the compiler (scorpio) likes to make big personal curratorial statements with his selections. He has three disks that he want to use to create his own overview of the whole history of the VU using alternative materials. This can only explain the use of The Ostrich and ending with a Lou Reed demo of The Ocean with other practically all previously released material in between.

an uncirculated studio demo version of "Ocean" that our source reports may be the single most mindblowing VU discovery since "Hey Mr. Rain"

What the? Is this mindblowing discovery going to turn out to be a Lou Reed demo?

If he had released this before the Mono Masters and the Gymnasium LP it might have interested me but he hasn't even managed to get Walk and Talk It. Does this suggest that the 'other' Gymnasium tape/set is not so readily available?

This may be a good set for a very interested newcomer or someone who hasn't heard of the internet but for an already committed collector it's worthless.

Well, I am sure that it will succeed in it's #1 goal- to make money. Frankly I am not really surprised by the recycled song selection. I was pretty sure that the hype was indeed that- hype.

Well, someone out there will buy it for an ungodly sum and then it will be torrented. I'll wait for that.

I think these bootleggers would make A LOT more money if they put together discs of closely-related material, and sell 5x more if they charged 1/3 the price! These slapped-together collections just don't cut it for me. I am just as hardcore as the next guy, but I ain't a sucker. If a seller thinks they can dangle two or three songs in front of me (out of 3 discs) and thinks I'll throw away $100, they are frickin' crazy.

As Bleach said, most of the sources on these bootlegs are torrents we already have. Nothing Songs, anyone?
And as for putting the Ostrich on it. That?s just lazy.
That made me laugh out loud...how true!

I don't like the tracklist neither. This is not what I expected...

Considering that many of us probably know who the bootlegger is, he knows better than to release something like this.

And so it begins... a worthwhile bootleg turns up, then within a few months we get the first of what will doubtless be dozens of pointless rehashes of the same material. You'd have thought torrenting would have put a stop to shit like this?

Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

'April Sounds' - Thats actually a half decent concept I like the idea of bringing the live & recorded material from the same month on a single disc to listen to. OK they have sourced it from torrents but the idea is there, more than can be said for the 'Dispatches..' set. I might even knock up my own DIY 'April Sounds' disc!
