I think I saw some acetates and test pressings pop up on eBay a few years back which seemed odd until someone pointed out that they were real, but from re-releases; not the 60's and 70's. :)

Goddammit! I tried everywhere to get one of these back when Johan was touring with the book and couldn't find one with this cover. Now it's already at $54.00! Oh how I miss the days when I had a few guilders in my pocket that I could blow on VU goodies. :(

I don't know how to upload here so I've upload some sheets of an old Guido catalog from the late 1980s here; for everybody who's interested in his collection.

They sound just like the ones I was offered. I seem to remember the guy saying they were Polydor/Polygram acetates made for a radio station. I think the seller responded to an ad of mine in Goldmine - I used to periodically advertise there and it was surprisingly effective sometimes (ie I got a mint Index flexi for $12) as well as attracting the sharks/pirates.
kaisersose wrote:Funny to see your post Lurid as back in the mid 80's I did bought 4 VU 10" metal laquered acetates with different timing(Candy says,Jesus,I'm se free & another one from the 3rd album too I dont remember wich one now.).they were offered on Goldmine(USA seller I dont remember the name) I payed $ 300 for the lot of 4.the curious thing is that the versions were actually really longer but they were "home made" in a pretty smart way :they attached the song again a couple of times at the refrain or near the end in a way you could barely noticed.Of course after I listened I thought that they were pretty dodgy, but the guy claimed that they were made for "radio proposes"anyway I kept them in my collection & played them sometimes.I used to played them when I was stoned.Good feeling anyway to hear Jesus start again just when you think is gonna end.The labels were white with typewritten titles & timing.

OK so we've seen lots of fake VU acetates here in the last few days so I thought I'd be positive & post some from Sterlings collection (can't remember whether I've posted these before but seems a good time to look at some goodies)..

Thanks Bleach - it's always great to see these true one offs.

Were these the source of '22 demos'?

Those are really cool Bleach!

Do you posess these priceless treasures or is Sterlings collection online or on display somewhere?

Thanks - sadly they are not mine, I was offered them but way out of my budget as the 3 amounted to a five figure sum!

I'm speechless! $491.00! It's gotta be the Warhol connection!
