I can tell you what I listen to is not what this samplers are "telling". Even here at work thru old/crappy PC speakers there is night and day from samplers to the files I got.
PBE : i see it a the right peace, so sampler is somehow wrong.
I have not listen to all the samplers but a few. "Coney Island" is just awful ... It has been for me one of the biggest surprises in the set, with Lou singing fully restored without any "tin can effect", which is just outstanding, almost a different take.

Re: 3rd Album Deluxe - Bill Levenson drops a hint?
Another preview track appeared yesterday on The Guardian site in the UK
This time Foggy Notion
http://www.theguardian.com/music/musicb ... leased-mix
Some studio chatter, then the familiar guitar lick, a pause - and away it goes
Not so hugely different as the new mix of I Can't Stand It - to my ears. It's longer than the VU 84 version, but still fades out
The vocals are less reverb-soaked (and better for it IMO), the balance of the guitars is different (and maybe reversed in the speakers?)
But apart from that, I couldn't spot much else different
EDIT - just realised that this is billed as the "original 1969 mix" not a new 2014 mix

Perhaps if we wait long enough, they will release the entire set this way.

David, I searched out the two Japanese 80s albums and have to agree. And I especially like the tracks on Another View. Best I've ever heard them.DavidH wrote:(I do have to say that I love the Japanese remastered version of VU, and particularly the guitar sound on Stand It and Foggy Notion.)

I don't know if it's a mistake, but I just ordered it from Amazon UK for quite a good price - it's about 35 Pounds.

Thanks for the link. Delivered to the USA - total $53! (right now Amazon US is $84.99)
Re: 3rd Album Deluxe - Bill Levenson drops a hint?
Yeah, no problem. This actually cost me less than my WL/WH set, despite the Australian dollar being weaker now than back then, and this being 6 CDs vs 3.
Re: 3rd Album Deluxe - Bill Levenson drops a hint?
This is now back to 52 pounds, making me think it might have been an error.
