Wow Rick, terrific stuff here! I saw it this morning in my usual Ebay search and though ... what the hell! Full sets of What Goes on and Fierce Pups on sale! I have seen rarely the What Goes On 1 and 2 (twice in the recept years) - I am still missing No.2, by the way...

As for the Fierce Pups Zines ... fisrt time I have seen any of them on sale

Good luck my friend. Hope you get for those treasures what you deserve.
Wow, am I disappointed. I started my auctions at .99cents because it usually raises the bidding. My WGO complete set sold for $46.01, not too bad. I have seen just #1 sell for almost $100. The Fierce Pup 1-4 sold for $26.00. OK Now the Village Voice with 5 VU/Warhol related ads, including the Gymnasium ad, only sold for $27.00! I once saw just the Gymnasium ad by itself sell for over $100! I'm kinda disappointed; but now I know I must pay a few cents more in listing fees and start with a much higher minimum bid or have a reserve. Trying to save a few pennies up front cost me in the end. Cest la vie. :(
I can understand your feeling. I have seen Village Voices sold quote cheap but always when seller had no idea of what was inside and was not giving any details but the date. Your auction was perfectly advised and plenty of pics. Never thought would go for that ridiculous amount.

As for the WGO ... what to say, I paid few mothhs ago $55 for issue #1 and I thought it was a bargain!
I have been buying A LOT of mags and newspaper for my Catalogue and there is no rules on Ebay. One magazine reach one day +$350 and few weeks later you can buy it for less tha $100.
As alreday advised protect yourself with a Min bid or fix a Buy It Now price (can ad also make an offer option)

For whoever is interested, this seller just lowered his Buy It Now price from $2795.00 to $1453.40! It is still high, but for an original of this VU poster (one of the most beautiful, IMHO) and hand signed by Warhol himself, if someone has the $$$$$, it should be snapped up. anyway....? 8-)

Is that really an original? If so, it has certainly been trimmed. Also, the Warhol signature looks a bit sketchy to me.

Maybe so. The sig looked ok to me but I'm no expert for sure. If it's not an original, the seller is in for some big trouble.

I contacted the seller to ask if it was a reprint or original? Here is his reply:
Dear velvetfan,

I don not know, but the shape of the poster I would have to believe was a
later reprint

Guess I should have asked him that before posting here. Hope I didn't get anybody too excited. :(

Well, the seller did make the mistake of listing it as an original (although from between 1970 and 1989(?)). I wonder what the COA says. Probably something like this...

I hereby certify that I have no idea what I just sold to you. Good luck.

COAs aren't worth shit from most ePay sellers. If it were from the Warhol Museum, well...that's a different story.

Can't agree more Michael, i've bought some very nice/expensive VU items on Ebay and none have come with a COA. In fact i would be suspicious of any item that does come with one!

Very true ... a few months ago I got a copy for $100... wonder which would be the Ebay price for the much rarer stock copy. :?:
