Can somebody explain to me why this bootleg is in a bidding war and currently is at $388.00USD?! I have this and have seen copies sell for between $20 to $50 over the last few years. Is it autographed by Warhol or something? Anybody?

If you look at the bidding it looks like there arem two bidders who really wants it. My guess is that there is really one (uninformed) bidder and the other is a shill bidder...

You know, Rick, after so many years of VU collecting I still have no idea how this stuff works, aside from the obvious like an ATP or VU1 picture sleeve. A year or two ago I was shocked to see an Andy Warhols Velvet Underground 2lp coke bottles compilation go for over $400.
That being said, I may be parting with a prized item from my collection so anyone with deep pockets out there who's interested in an original absolutely mint white label dj copy of Leave Her for Me/So Blue, drop me a note.

I saw a w/l Leave Her sell for quite a bit recently. I have to go thru my cache' VU sales to see how high. The 2LP Coke bottle story reminds me. I was shocked to see one of those sell for $200 a few years back. The seller had an amazing description of the sound of each cut on that release, I'm talking about pages and pages describing bits and passages and how that release was superior. I happened to have 3 copies of the same release with the same matrix number. Back when you could, I contacted the 2nd highest bidder and offered him my copy (off eBay) for $175 and he snapped it up! Then I listed my second copy on eBay about a week later, using a good bit of the original guys description but my pictures. That one sold for about $145! I am convinced it was almost completely due to the description. I wish I still had the file where I saved it, I mean it. This guy had me reading his description like a good novel; I was spellbound. Of course it was about a VU album.

It's gotta be something like that; or maybe having Warhol in the title, makes some Warhol collector think that there is some original Warhol artwork involved. It looks like the seller just copy/pasted direct from Olivers site in his description. I don't know.

Guys how much would you say a never-played copy of the 1966 LP produced by Bernd Baierschmidt is worth?

the first issue from 1981?
I've never had this, but I presume it's the closest to the orig tape. They used to go to around ?50 on ebay, but thas probably 10 yrs ago.
I look on there occasionally for VU stuff, just out of curiosity, to check the prices, and most of the time it's all reissues now... if it's truly mint/unplayed it could go for a lot!

It is unplayed. I tore the shrink wrap off myself.

It's actually completely worthless in this regard. Both tracks are cut short and faded out (I know this from hearing other vinyl rips). The various CD bootlegs of the show are not only unedited but just as good quality.

The 1st VU bootleg I ever heard when a friend bought one in NY in the 70's. I picked one up in the early 90s before the VU gold-rush at StandOut in Portobello. It's not just a matter of fidelity or edits ? it is a
thing of beauty. A lovingly designed cover worthy of the era and I'm pretty sure the second VU boot ever after Evil Mothers. A classic.

I bought 20 copies upon release for the wholesale price of $6.50 each. All are gone now except for a sealed copy which I am hanging onto. They do not show up frequently.
