No it isn't. It's a matter of getting the people on this forum to not be so stingey.

I'm afraid it is for me!

I don't think there's any conspiracy going on here. People aren't hoarding this stuff; it's just very hard for ANY of us to get hold of. We can all easily find the common stuff like Nameth, Mekas, South Bank, Symphony (old version), Sunday Morning etc - it's often on Ebay for little more than the price of a DVD (see here ), or on YouTube, or even streamable direct from Lou's official site.

The difficult-to-get stuff is difficult for one of two reasons: either (1) it's never been released or broadcast in full, so all we have is little clips spread out over half a dozen obscure documentaries (CBS News, WNET, Paraphenalia footage) or (2) it's been officially released at a prohibitive price by Rarovideo, meaning it can't be torrented anywhere (remastered version of Symphony, Chelsea Girls).

In the case of (1), I'd like to think that one day it'll be possible to collect together all the clips from obscure documentaries and edit them together into something near-complete, which is largely why I did that site and why I keep asking obscure questions about mid '80s programmes about Warhol with 5 seconds of Walter Cronkite in them. It's going to be a long road though!

shit loads of the New Zealand Band,The Clean
New Zealand independent music has a coterie. It's very hard to get trades happening. I speak from esxperience.

PM me regarding the (one) Great Unwashed show I have in my collection.
