I know that on the 3rd lp there is a huge amount of Fender XII used exclusively by Lou. He is said to have loved those guitars during that time and it could just be a play on that particular instrument or it could be recordings exclusively using that instrument. Just a thought.
that's an interesting idea - would account for the emphasis on 'XII'...
