New release from Japan:

The Velvet Underground
If It's Too Loud For You Move Back! 2006 Remastered
CD +/- CDR, Nothing Songs NSCD-004/1/2, Japan, 2006

Here comes the fourth volume in the Nothing Songs series. This new double CD set with mobile fidelity sounds lab-style cover is a limited edition of 500. It offers a remastered version of the If It's Too Loud For You Move Back! 2-CD bootleg, released in 1997, which was the first to offer a complete, unedited version of the famous Exploding Plastic Inevitable at The Valleydale Ballroom in Columbus OH on November 4, 1966, digitally mastered from the original tape.

The new edition has a different track-splitting and a boosted sound - I don't know what kind of sound treatment was applied, but it sounds louder than the 1997 original edition.

First hand-numbered 100 copies come with a bonus CDR of the legendary 1966 bootleg LP - first record to offer the 2 long jams from the Columbus 1966 show, a.k.a Melody Laughter and Nothing Song.

Some early copies have THE VELVET UNDERGROUND mispelled as THE VELVET UNDERGRPUND on the spine.

There was no need for me to write an info-file as I found all the relevant data on the VU Web Page. Suffice it to add that I have duly left out the two versions of Melody Laughter (a big no-no around here because parts of it have already been released officially; to compensate you get to versions of The no-Nothing Song!) and that I have included full scans of the remastered edition and of the original (the artwork of which is re-used here in miniature form).

Now you can judge for yourself whether this "2006 remaster" is any different/better compared to the original classic bootleg.

It may seem odd that the version of "The Nothing Song" from the bonus disc yields a much bigger FLAC-file than the "remastered" one from disc 2 (and the same goes for "Melody Laughter), but that's how it is. All files were encoded using FLAC Frontend version 1.7.1 Etree edition, set at level 8/Verify/align on sector boundaries.

Enjoy!

Recently, this 2-track torrent was posted on Dime. I made some speed/pitch correction and reposted it. Here is the info:

Band: Lou Reed
Venue: The Bottom Line, NYC
Date: 18 May 1978 (see comments below)

Lineage: WPIX-FM broadcast -> CAS -> ? -> CD-R -> .FLAC -> .AIFF -> Peak4 (speed/pitch correction) -> xACT .flac conversion

01.Interview
02.Street Hassle

--------------
Short but funny, nice intro to "Take No Prisoners". Street Hassle, here presented as "the grooviest one" version, is a different take than on the official live album and comes from Lou's own tape from Bottom Line.
--------------

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS BY MG196:

Hey guys, after listening to the tracks posted I think it was obvious they were a bit slow. I sped them up and pitch-corrected, so now it sounds MUCH better to my ears. I didn't just wing it - I compared speed & pitch to his 5/26/79 "el Mocambo" interview and made the appropriate adjustments.

Lou states that this was a Thursday-night late show, but according to the Rock & Roll Animal webpage, his Bottom Line stint was from the 19th to the 23rd. The 18th & 25th were Thursdays.

A little research in my huge file of Lou-related graphics turned up a ticket stub from the 5/18 show (enclosed)! So, I am placing all my money on this being a recording of Street Hassle from Thursday, May 18, 1978.

As for the day of the broadcast, I'll leave that up to someone else!!

I received permission from the original torrent-poster, OndraK, to make these corrections and re-post.

This is not my dvd, but I can tell you this guy posts only wonderful stuff. He recently posted a Residents dvd that made some friends of mine cry. They are pure digital (dvb-t) from recent rebroadcasts. Go get it!

Barcelona show complete set list:

Sweet Jane - I'm Waiting For The Man - Martial Law - Down At The Arcade - Legendary Hearts - Turn Out The Lights - There She Goes Again - Sally Can't Dance - Walk On The Wild Side - Street Hassle - Satellite Of Love - My Red Joystick - New Sensations - Doin't The Things That We Want To - Turn To Me - I Love You Suzanne - White Light/White Heat - Coney Island Baby - Waves Of Fear - Rock And Roll

When introducing the show, Paloma Chamorro talks about a lot of problems with this show, some of them technical problems, that forced to not broadcast the entire show.

There is some image problems at the end of New Sensations. I have recorded twice this broadcast using different systems and these image problems where in both recordings. It´s only 8 seconds (like bars when rewind or forwarding a video tape), the audio continues OK these 8 seconds.

This is a great show. IMMO the quality is A for audio and video. And comparing with other Lou Reed performances that I have seen live or in DVD, this one is outstanding.

Included is also an interview with Lou, the questions are in spanish and the answers in english with spanish subtitles. This interview was included divided in 2 parts in the middle of the broadcast. Like I have made other times, I have included it separated from the concert, as an extra. The Extras section includes also the Paloma Chamorro´s introduction (in spanish).

The DVD start with the "La Edad de Oro" header theme in automatic play mode, so the complete broadcast is included.

As always, enjoy and share. Don´t sell or buy this, it´s free.

I've tried to fix a few recording defects on "Spam Again" and "Hey Mersh!" where the right channel was missing on some parts. Un-fixed files included if you wanna try your chance. A few fade in/fade out as well. No hiss/noise reduction. No EQ/filter.

Play loud!"
