Apparently, ludlow never listened to the Gym vinyl LP, because it sounds quite good.
Ha Ha that made me laff

I reckon the vinyl holds up pretty well against the Dispatches CD, the CD has a little more power (they always do) and sounds a fraction brighter but theres not much in it.

Why not listen and decide for yourself??

To save you the trouble of actually having to go through the effort of actually interneting it, or whatever, it sounds horrible. What else would you expect from a first gen master tape? Stick with the $40.00 vinyl.
Becasue I'm not at home asshole.

I've not listened to every single track all the way through, but it sounds like a decent enough set by Scorpio (if it really is them). Nothing totally "new" on CDs 1 and 2, but cant really argue with the sound quality - it's probably not going to get any better than on here. CD3 has all the "goodies" from my point of view - the rehearsal stuff is great, and in fine quality. Not sure if tracks 1 and 2 are "new" - I'd have to compare them with the other circulating demos of these songs from late 69. Not sure either if tracks 11 - 14 are significant improvements over those circulating on tape or issued on the "First Night" set (which I thought had also used a 1st gen dub as it's source....). Tracks 15 and 16 are nice to have, but we're spoilt for choices when it comes to 1969 versions of these songs.
"Ocean" is just superb - if it's really from Winter 1970 then it puts paids to the story that Lou retired to work for his Dad and then sat on his arse contemplating his navel and learning how to type! I wonder how many more demos like this he recorded? Why are they not on here?

No doubt in pre-internet days I'd have gladly paid over big bucks for this set and been well-satisfied with what I got. I have no illusions about why "most" bootlegs are put out, but this is "mostly" primo material in great quality, all accurately described and nicely packaged. So big thanks to Peter for uploading it for us all....

Well, for starters these are Stereo, & the Aulica was mono...

None of the Aulica 'First Night' is mono.

Additionally, I've just done an A/B of That's the Story. The new version has a lot of distortion that's not present on 'First Night'. Oh, and the channels are reversed. No way of knowing which version has them round the right way I suppose.

FYI, It seems that this seller of the Scorpio set has just relisted his super rare wlwh poster and he has dropped his original start price from $15K to $10K, so anybody with that disposable income, get bidding!
