About a year ago i was looking through hundreds of old vinyls that some old man (in his 80's) had gotten from a barn, and was just about to leave empty handed when my eyes fell on yet another pile of records. I was really tired from digging through all the other piles for one hour without finding anything but thought "what's another pile?". First i found a pink floyd japanese release of the dark side of the moon, and then the squeeze, original 1973 release. I got them both for 2 $, witch turned out to be all i had in my pocket that day. One of my best finds ever. Although not the best record...

Back in '73 or so I found 2 sealed banana lp's. Bought one for $1, left the other one ! (Ah, hindsight...)

My most amazing VU bargain - I got the Loop flexi on Ebay in mint condition for $15 - the guy spelt their name wrong in the listing (which was extra handy as I had already bought Aspen without the flexi for $120).

velvi$ nearly faints with jealousy!!!!

simonm from other topic:
I didn't want to add to the 'bargain' thread as it could be construed as bragging...
C'mon - brag away - I for one can take it...

That's why I started this thread. Great story with the mis-spelling - why doesn't that happen to me - I used to check mis-spellings with fatfingers.com but never unearthed any treasures...

Yeah - well I just used my own mistakes - like I used to always type Undergound , missing out the 2nd R.

My other bargain - 1969 press kit sent free with $50 yellow label mono WL/WH.

But I only found these things by looking every day, over and over, obsessively. I wasn't any fun, I'm glad I don't do that any more.

you did say FREE didn't you?

I probably mis-heard.

I don't think VU bargains exist much anymore. I only look when I'm feeling flush (when I've been paid - not that often) then it's... whoops another 100 quid on another dodgy banana

not really a bargain, but a birthday present I received today.

a friend of mine and I had a bizarre conversation a while ago that ended with us talking about voting for Doug Yule on tax returns, so he sent me this t-shirt:

and this album:

my friend is awesome.

I should imagine! But now that you've got the AF album, what does it sound like? Are Doug's singing and drumming any good?

And what about the songs? The song titles sound so corny 70s to me, but are the songs any good?

I offered this guy on the ole big yellow board $50 for the WL/WH - when he realised it wasn't in as good condition as he thought (there's an annnoying click in I Heard Her Call My Name) he sent the press kit to make up the difference. It's missing the group photo, Doug 10x8 and the typed band biog but it's still a groovy thing - Gordon sent me a photocopyof the biog.
