The legend says that all the Boston Tea Party tapes (with the exception of the ?Guitar Amp Tape?) were recorded by a guy known as ?The Professor?, who smuggled a reel-reel tape deck into the Tea Party underneath his poncho.
Just curious... has anyone ever found out just who "The Professor" is? And is there any way we can coax him into releasing anything he still has that isn't in circulation?

the info on Olivier's site re 12/12/68 came from the guy who originally sent me the 4th gen tape. In a letter to me he said he had a friend who had a friend etc etc who either knew the "professor" or someone close to him. Sadly I lost touch with him years ago - before I did he also sent me a complete 4th gen tape of the 10/1/69 show but it's not quite as good quality as 12/12/68.
I've always thought that 12/12/68 was about as good as it gets, Sister Ray-wise, but some of the Quine tapes performances run it pretty close. And for me, nothing beats the 12/12/68 "Candy Says", on headphones, hiss and all. Lou's vocal nuances are unbelievably tender - I could never understand why he had Doug sing it on teh 3rd album, irrespective of what he says about Doug's innocence etc etc
