I suppose it is quiet here because many here received their copy of NYA.
This is the largest of my VU books. A lot of extra photos from
many circulated sessions.
For example there are more shots from the same session as
the color VU photo above.

Enjoy your life spent waiting for this, go for walks, bask in the day, enhale the night air.
It may be your last as this third major VU tome since June, is quite consuming.
You may emerge pale and wan from whatever place you type, say 2013. So enjoy
what is left of your youth, when this book arrives, your years leave.

Oh, as all inclusive at the last 3 VU books have been, not one includes my favorite
Lou Reed photo from 1970, by Rae Anne Rubinstein. I have the original, as printed
in Crawdaddy, with the caption, 'Lou Reed a true Rock and Roller.'

I had this picture on my wall in 1971, (as I have it now) when a friend was visiting. My mother
opened my bedroom door with a wildly accusing look (suspecting narcotic usage).
She saw us sitting there innocently listening to "Here She Comes Now."
After she shut my door, my friend silently pointed to the Lou Reed photo (Rae Anne's photo)
on my bedroom wall. Then he pointed to the closed door, I nodded my silent agreement.
He had noticed the wild eyed similarity in Lou's mug with the visage of my mother, something
I pondered previously, along the frozen border lines of denial.

In closing a great summer through early fall of VU books, yet all supplemental to each other,
in all ways, photos, text. As a triumvirate of consuming literature for us the poor morsels of
fandom, they go a long way in filling numerous gaps. However like the nations that go against
the Afghan tribes, there will always be things hidden, or things that have slipped by.
The beast of fandom will wear us down..... well me at least.

Enjoy your wait.

Thanks for your good advice gibson343. In fact I quite enjoy the wait for the book, as I was at first hesitant to buy it thinking "do I really need another VU book"? (Well, some here might not understand being that picky... I wasn't sure at first, but then Amazon offered it for a good price, the dollar is low to the Euro and as there were no comments about the book here, it got me even more interested to buy it...) Waiting for it is even more interesting as there aren't too much hints as what to expect...

And thanks for sharing the story of the "True-Rock-and-Roller"-picture. Is the picture to be found somewhere online? It would be nice to see the picture to get the full picture of the story...

Cheers to wherever you are!

I did a quick web trawl and found this about the mysterious 7";

"The record includes extremely rare versions of two Velvet Underground tracks that were only released on a limited edition boxed set many years ago. The tracks??Real Good Time Together? and ?If You Close the Door??are taken from the personal collection of Mo Tucker and are produced by Universal Records."

Demo recordings perhaps? Or maybe not, considering they were released on a "limited edition box set" (ie. Peel Slowly and See, not that Real Good time Together was on that, but anyway)

I've got my copy today and the book is really nice. A lot of pictures that I have never seen before and some good texts. (But I haven't read most of them yet so I can't comment on them.)
Let's just hope that we'll get to hear some new VU sounds in the near future too.
