Homme Fatale wrote:New fans usually automatically think the Cale era is "it", the real thing and this question gets asked a lot. The truth is, the band really found its feet live after Cale's departure and for a new fan I would definitely recommend the official live releases first, 1969, The Quine Tapes...
Are the official 1969 CDs taken from the show that starts with "Lou Talking" and ends with Heroin and Sister Ray? That was the best live material I've heard from them.

the two First Night discs were my initiation into the "non-official" VU stuff. it's pretty good. but i'm having trouble finding more stuff to download. anyone have any ideas where to go to get some more stuff to satisfy my VU craving?

I got a few things off of there -- http://www.easytree.org -- but it took forever to download and now they won't even let me log in for some reason. Anybody else having problems with them or is it just me and my antiquated computer?

Yep, it can take a long time because the files are lossless. I haven't had any problems logging in, except when I try with the wrong username.
