On the Super Deluxe, Heroin, European Son, Black Angel's Death Song and All Tomorrow's Parties, are all take from a tape source. So you'd think these, at least, would be comparable to what's been found here.

The fact that two tracks have longer lengths than the versions on the acetate suggests that this was not the tape from which the acetates were made. Therefore it is possible that there are differences in (some of) the mixes too.

I wonder if they're actually extended versions of the songs we know, or breakdowns/false starts and multiple takes. Either way, it will be great to hear them,

I wonder who actually owns those recordings? As Warhol and Dolph paid for the sessions. The band had not signed a recording deal with Verve yet. Did they sell the mechanical rights to Verve?

Very very interesting news indeed!
Some brainstorming brought me to this:
*chronology of tapes/recordings must be 1."real master tape" => 2."acetate master tape" => 3.acetate(s)
*the 5 "from tape" Scepter Session tracks on the 45th VU&Nico disc are most likely from 2."acetate master tape"; probably used because of damages in the acetate(s)
*ATP "master" version 5:45 or 8:48?
Well the "real master" can never be shorter than the Scepter alt.version [5:53], so 8:48 is most likely true
BUT what is in the additional length?
According Norman Dolph There She Goes Again was recorded during the original Scepter sessions.
SO could the "real master" ATP contain also There She Goes Again?

Furthermore: What could be the full text of "There Is Another Tape To B... cutting..."?

The Warhol announces the discovery and digitization of the rare master tapes of The Velvet Underground’s debut album "The Velvet Underground & Nico". Recently identified while processing Andy Warhol’s archive at The Warhol, the nine initial tracks recorded by the band were the bedrock of the album that became one of my most jarring and influential albums in rock music. The monophonic reel-to-reel tapes feature alternate versions and mixes of songs later issued on the 1967 release.

The recording will premiere as part of an upcoming exhibition at The Warhol in 2023.

Mind-blowing. Can't wait to get this.

Incredible find. Can't wait to hear this.

One guess at the full text on the tape boxes: There is another tape to be used for cutting side 2.
