I don't get the idea that Nothings Songs people are exactly that careless in their work.
Can't those be completely and utterly eliminated by simply patching the songs over seamless vinyl-crackle?

I would guess from the file sizes on the bitenova listing that this download has the same track running order as the dolph, not the CD boot. Check track 6 for example. Has someone just re-ordered the Japanese boot to confuse us? The torrent seems to be dead.

Yeah, it's re-ordered, but not to confuse you. The Dolph acetate on ULTIMATE MONOS AND ACETATES was mis-labeled track-wise. This "Dolph Acetate" torrent has circulated everywhere - I think it was started by a member of this forum.

Unless they don't actually join! Has anyone tried? IF* they join AND when re-ordered to match the dolph the crackle rhythms match up across the joins THEN it could be proved to be the (or a) LP acetate. No?
This sounds like a job for you Mr. GroovyMusic, if you don't mind me saying. No offense, but it needs your attention to detail.
*Forgive the CAPS, I'm an ex-formal-logician.

You're right the CD box was mislabelled but even then the running order is still different to the dolph listing on olandem, unless that is wrong, too. But thanks, it sounds like it's not worth downloading the torrent.

yeah, I've tried and it matches up perfectly and I've circulated copies of the fixed version to other people on this list, including Groovy Music (unless I copied the wrong one for you)
edit: I did the repair job back when it was first circulated on this list - I also fixed the two second transitions (gaps) that appeared within songs.

More rhetorical questions - Why did it take so long for the acetate owner to relist on ebay? He tried to sell it before but I wonder if he couldn't get what he wanted. And why did no record company ever buy direct? Too expensive? Maybe he's now prepared to take what he can get.
Would anyone here sell, if they owned it?
How much would you reasonably pay? $40,000 ? You'd have to a rich or stupid or stupidly rich to pay that.
Now we have the Japanese bootleg, it's pretty much worthless, I think. And, in (some cheeky) opposition to some fine people in this group, can I just say this once and clearly - all praise to 'rip-off' Japanese bootleggers, I love you!!

Sorry, I must have totally missed this event.

auction number: 300054910309.
I quote from the auction page:
'Calls started flooding in from people interested in buying the acetate, as well as record companies interested in releasing the songs on it. After much consideration, we decided that it would be best to release it to the highest bidder through an auction facilitated by our good friends at Saturn Records in Oakland, California (a store that has a well-established presence in the international vinyl collecting community, and an excellent reputation on the internet).'
In other words - they chose a private sale that may see this historical recording disappear forever. What are the copyright implications of someone privately releasing this, I wonder.
They also theorise about the Japanese boot version.

Oh, sure. Like any record company thinks they'd have the rights to release this thing simply by buying an acetate on Ebay...
Polydor owns the rights to this, lock, stock and barrel. If THEY don't put it out, no one (legitimate) ever will.
