Song Meaning

I hate to come here asking for help with school, but this has to do with VU! Now, there's a project I have to do, about music. So of course I chose the wonderful Velvet Underground. I just have to find a meaning or story behind a song. I'd like to do "Rock and Roll." I mean, normally I'd just take it for what it is, but is there some special meaning behind why Lou wrote it, or what it means in general?

Its kind of autobiographical, to do with Lou growing up on Long Island where there isn't much happening, in a pretty average middle class household (two TV sets etc), and feeling like the energizing life-affirming force of the rock n roll he heard on the radio was the only thing he could find salvation in...

Dunno about the amputations though

If you're looking for a song with meaning look no further than heroin. Especially for a school assignment, you should be able to talk about it quite in depth.
