Yep Cale is back on top form - a week ago he performed on BBC Later (with Jools Holland) and ended with 'Guts' a great version and performance. His appearances on Jools show are always worth catching.
I remember seeing this one - Dying On The Vine - with a string quartet, from 20 years ago when I was a student and I thought at the time that it was one of the beautiful breath taking 4 mins of music TV that i'd ever seen. I still think that..He also did his Hallelujah with strings on the same show - another classic performance.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this Cale snippet so posting it here

Domino is proud to release the legendary John Cale?s new single ?All Summer Long? - available now with an impact date of September 16th.
John will be playing at Green Man Festival this year, on August 17th.
?All Summer Long? is the new single from John Cale and will be available digitally worldwide from August 5th (DS085D). It comes bundled with ?Sandman (Flying Dutchman)?, a track from Cale?s recent Shifty Adventures In Nookie Wood album, which here makes for a perfect companion piece.

Cale says of the new track,
?When writing for Shifty Adventures I noticed an apparent theme of claustrophobic darkness and so of course, I felt at home in that place. There were though a handful of songs unfinished. One in particular was me dreaming about a breeze, space and light. Recalling those early days in my sticky, sweltering NYC flat - how I'd heard summer from the West Coast - thinking how the California landscape informed a vibe that churned out Brian Wilson, Herb Alpert and that strange sexy breeze in your ears. Since the album was predominantly located in the darker, eerie swamps of ?Nookie Wood? , it seemed like the wrong place to put this song, but now, just feels right to let it out...?
any sounds that we feel would detract from the performance has been left in place

I will be seeing him play Sept 7th ian Raleigh, NC as part of the Hopscotch music fest.

PS Gazeat....I got an email notification of your message but I don't see it in my PM inbox here.
Don't know which band Cale will have with him...part of a music fest and doesn't specify. I won't be taping it but I will be taking pics. I am a hobby photographer mainly of models, but some of bands. I am on Flickr as username huremics if anyone wants to see my work.

"Impact date" - is that the new way of saying 'release date' or 'is out on'? :(

Its in the d/l stores now... so they have their 'impact date' completely wrong by over a month or so.

That release date of 16th is for Australia.

This single was being streamed by some UK download sites in July, i heard it then. It was available as a download on 5th August in the UK, Cale announced it on his facebook page on the 7th. Dunno why he waited. It can be downloaded from Domino mart in WAV format for ?1.08. No vinyl, cd single or promo cdrs have been pressed.
