"Lou Weed" by the Dandy Warhols. It's a fantastic imitation, too.

Well Baby Just Look At Lou
Well Ya Do What You Want To Do
And Nothing Less For You
Well Whatever Will Get You Through
Now Satan You Seem Like A Typical Dude
When You Notice Im Stayin And Starin At You
And I Can See You Got The Heroin Blues
Really It Looks Good On You

Well Baby Just Look At Lou
I Know Women, Women Want To Be Seen With You
Well Thats OK Too
Those Women Really Look Good On You
Now You Always Act So Cool
Like Your Waiting For Your Man Up On Lexingtion Ave.
And Noone Is There To Hook Up For You
So Whos Place Are You Going Too
Well Baby Just Look At Lou
Yeah Baby Just Look At Lou
I Said Baby Just Look At Lou
Yeah Baby Look At Lou

Lou Reed's Hair by Angel Corpus Christi is from her album Louie Louie which is a tribute to Lou, I don''t have it to hand right now but for a tribute I don't member it being very complimentary. A fantastic selection of accordion cover versions as well as Lou Reed's Hair:

Caroline Says
Tell It to Your Heart
She's My Best Friend
Disco Mystic
Banging on My Drum
The Day John Kennedy Died
Femme Fatale
Rock & Roll Heart
I Want to Boogie With You/Je T'aime
Rock & Roll Heart
I'm Set Free.

'John Cale' by Don Lennon
'Moe Tucker' by Jesus and Mary Chain
'Doug Yule' by Jescos
'Doug Yule's Velvet Underground' by Darren Hayman
'Nico' by the Cult
'Nico' by Acoustic Ladyland, a jazz/punk track, but I guess it honours our Nico because they also recorded tracks called 'Iggy' and 'Ludvig Van Ramone'.

Sadly, nothing called 'Sterling Morrison' or 'Angus Maclise'.

I don't have the heart to search for Willie Alexander or Walter Powers.
Alejandro Escovedo did a song Tugboat on his With These Hand release, it is about Sterling. Of course Lou did Finish Line and John did Some Friends
both about Sterl, but yes, nothing so far with Sterling Morrison in the title.

There is a song called Nico by Angels of Light, a group front by former Swan Michael Gira who is a big John Cale and Nico fan.

Magnificent, thanks everyone, keep them coming. We all have a lot of obscure knowledge just waiting to be shared. I sure didn't know about 'Finish Line' or 'Tugboat'. Or any of the songs about Lou's attributes and habits.

More important though, this is probably the first time all the songs about VU and/or members have been brought together, so for the record I will add some that everyone already knows. Correct me if I'm wrong - I haven't read all the books that keep being published.

'Velvet Underground' by Jonathan Richman
'Style it takes' by Lou Reed and John Cale, a mention for VU
'The biggest loudest hairiest group of all' by John Cale, I think I know the group he means, maybe

and finally:
'Louise' by the Velvet Underground

There is probably a dissertation or thesis analysing how bands get to be the subject of other band's songs (but I'm not volunteering).

This one's a bit of a classic - well worth seeking out!

Extremely influential New York guitar band
Seeks lead singer / rhythm guitarist
I guess I could switch maybe play rhythm
Get my friend Walter in on bass
I guess it could maybe be fun
I guess the band could carry on.

New York band seeks second guitarist
Because our last one just went back to college
Well my friend Willie plays the keyboards
So I guess the band could carry on.
That makes me Walter, Willie and Maureen
And the band carries on and on and on.

It?s alright if nobody likes the music that you like
It?s ok if everyone hates the music that you play.

You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on and never let go.

Tonight for one night and one night only
Those counter culture revolutionaries
With none of the original members
Cause Maureen thought she?d take a rest
We thought it would be for the best
If the band carried on and on and on.

It?s alright if nobody likes the music that you like
It?s ok if everyone hates the music that you play.

You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on and never let go.

Play rock and roll real slow.

You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on with both hands
You?ve got to hold on and never let go.

Well I still write songs but I keep them in my head
They don?t need to be recorded they don?t need to be heard
I bought a guitar the other day, thought maybe I?d play
Just a little every day, to keep the blues away
At the back of my mind there?s a small downtown bar
Where the band carries on and on and on.
