wgo

Post by stooge »

Can anybody told me about the "wgo1" & "wgo2"? indeed when i read the 65 to 70 list gigs at the VU Web Page it's often mention that tapes exist -sometimes with set list- and listed in the first mag of the VUAS. So, where does this source come from and do we ever got the chance to hear those tapes one day? I really would like to know more about that 'cause some are even not available on bootlegs so... thanks a lot

There's a lot of live tapes circulating that haven't been pressed on to bootlegs.

There aren't that many gigs that are on circulating CDs/tapes only - a finite number anyway - most half-decent show tapes have at least a track or two on a commercial boot to indicate the existence of a full show elsewhere. Some of the other tape sources are very poor sound also [see discussion of source tapes for the Praise Ye The Lord LP being better than the full CD-Rs of that stuff, below...]

There are things listed in wgo, but that doesn't mean they exist!
I remember seeing the wgo compilation issue, but I thought it looked pretty dull at the time (1984?)

There must be tapes in the collections of people (in Cleveland and Boston where they played regularly) who have lost interest in the band or don't have any interest in the internet etc, but basically if there is no track listing on the entry on Olivier's site, the tape is lost or at least missing in action for the moment. If Olivier doesn't have the details on his performance pages - forget it.

AFAIK the list of gigs/tapes was compiled from what the mag's readers in the early 80s said they had on tape... Some of the time the dates & other details will just be wrong, the other stuff - who knows? If these theoretical people were original fans from the late 60s with tapes they would be in their 50s or 60s now....
