I am genuinely wondering if the channel has been hacked and somehow the date on the upload is, uh, "fake news". After all anything Lou-related, let alone an unheard live VU recording would have got thousands of views and lots of comments over seven years. This sounds insane, but could it have been planted to get viral publicity for the Todd Haynes film???

Well it's been there for at least 2 months.

Like Mark, I'm hearing some drums, especially toward the end of the solo

Another thought... this is the clearest vocal for GIFIL yet, and therefore the best candidate for overlaying onto the studio version to 'complete' it...

Barry Stock has had 2 goes at "combining" (both on YouTube) and the 2nd version is really good. I'm not sure that this vocal would improve it.

There is a new software for demixing and isolating. I wonder whether Barry Stock used that. I kind of agree that this vocal might not fit as well, though.

Great find! Lou's vocal phrasing on this reminds me of 'I'm Not a Young Man Anymore' from the Gymnasium Tapes.

The more I listen to this the more I think it's an early version, pre-Gymnasium, which would fit with the Upbeat timeline. The idea of 'canned cheering' being from the original broadcast seems definitely plausible to me as well. Great find, thanks for sharing

But upbeat was July 67. The gymnasium shows were in April

Ah sorry, my bad - I thought Upbeat was Jan 67.
Are we sure it was July? The quote from Psychotronic on Olivier's site says "early 67" - would July be classed as "early"?
