Has anyone heard the black vinyl version yet? And has anyone compared it to the green? I'd be interested to hear of any differences in sound quality and packaging. Thanks!

At this point I neither believe or disbelieve. However, it is possible they have what they say they have. Recordings do get sat on ("here, you can have a copy of this but don't make copies for anyone else or even tell them you have it"). There are several high quality Led Zep tapes that are only available to a tiny minority, for instance - the rest of us are kept out of the loop. We'll just have to wait and see.

I received the green vinyl yesterday, what a treat man! Such a beaty.

Did you notice the reference prefix and number? "Velvet Records Gym - 001". Kinda private edition, or maybe there will be a 002, 003? Well, I guess dreaming is free.

My copy has not arrived yet (which worries me) but thanks to you guys I was able to listen to this last night. Stunning ? beyond my wildest hopes. To me this is just how the Velvets are supposed to sound. I will be playing this over and over and over again ? and that?s just when I get home tonight.

?I?m Not a Young Man Anymore? is fantastic. Anyone know what the story is with this song? Why drop it from their sets? It rocks.

WFTM is my favourite version of this song ever and ?Sister Ray? is sublime. The interplay between guitars is just something else. Crank it right up.

Heartfelt thanks to all who have posted sound files, scans etc. Particularly upsetter, ferges and bleach. You will get your reward in heaven. Which is where I am right now. :D

Hi Jez - my copy hasn't arrived yet either, mine was was in the 2nd batch of 10 - seller assures me it was sent, maybe we just have to wait...

but hey, thanks to our forum brothers we can listen to it in advance, or I'd be going nuts.
I've listened to it many times! Strangely, I don't really like this version of WFTM, but everything else is 100%!!!

I´m still missing mine too ... and discoscrudos got it yesterday living in same city -you lucky man- We should blame postofficies!
I agree with Simon about Waiting.
The one I enjoy more right now is RRR, probably because there are no that many live performances. SR is damn great too, but I miss Cale´s organ a lot.

The more I listen the more i like all them ... probbaly beacuse I´m Not A Young Man Anymore

I'm waiting for my LP too...and I buy it from the first batch!

I think the seller dosent take all sold LP's at once to the post office...so we just have to wait.

PS: Cant stop thinking about this DAT

Hey Taxine you are a truly friend. Next time I feel bad, sad or depresed will call you ... You have a beer if visist me in Madrid!

You know, it was 1987 (20 years ago now) when I went to a record store to buy Searchin For My Mainline 3LP. I still remember when the needle ends at the B-side of LP1 and I quickly look for LP2 to see if Sister Ray continues anywhere... since that I have been looking for the day to hear a full Sister Ray with Cale.

I still believe that John has a copy of the La Cave gig in full (Klimek handed the master tape to Lou after the show and he handed it back to him in Oct) and one day we will be bleased with a bootleg of this: Sweet Sister Ray/Sister Ray, Hey Mr. Rain, Venus in Furs & Heroin.
