Re: New 1966 tape bootleg
From the blurb, the main selling point seems to be the two Poor Richard's tracks from the Ronald Nameth EPI soundtrack, which are hardly new. I haven't given the samples a proper listen yet.

Threadjack! Can AI boost the inaudible vocals on Sweet Sister Ray? FWIW, here's an attempt to boost the Sweet Sister Ray vocals with AI: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WkOmP2tqr0n5RilyfFhKmEsbms9RJW-f/view?usp=sharing And a 2½ minute consolidation of just the vocals: https://drive.google.com/file/ ...

Re: VU covers
I've always had a soft spot for the Big Star/Alex Chilton cover of "Femme Fatale " on 1975's Third/Sister Lovers album:

Re: Bootleg with AI...
Do you think we could play a little with the volume of Lou's voice in the Gymnasium bootleg? Strangely, I consider it too high. It overwhelms the mood of the band in some moments I had a look to see if I could improve the vocal levels and overall sound of the Gymnasium tracks with mixed results ...

Re: Bootleg with AI...
Good result!. The musical part should be balanced and strengthened because as we listen to it now they are disconnected. However, the amateur result is fantastic Yeah. The real strength of UVR5 is how cleanly it separates and extracts the vocals even if they're buried deeply in the mix. It provides ...

Re: Bootleg with AI...
The "Albums That Should Exist" site makes heavy use of the free Ultimate Vocal Remover (UVR5) tool. https://ultimatevocalremover.com I had a quick play around with it using the default settings to extract the vocals from a couple of VU tracks, boost them in Audacity and then remix them with the ...

Ah. Right. The connection is in Lou's intro to the 1969 Live set (about 60 seconds in on Vol. 1).

Re: One-Two-Five
Nice. :) Arguably the versions on Final V.U. from St David's University, Wales 6 Dec 1972 and Oliver's, Boston 27 May 1973, after Moe's departure could count as Doug Yule solo efforts - although the sound quality on both is poor. https://www.discogs.com/release/1907871-VU-Final-VU-1971-1973 But then ...

Re: One-Two-Five
Additionally, the version from Oliver's, Boston, Massachusetts, May 27, 1973 on disc 4 of "Final VU" could count as being from Doug Yule's solo career given that not even Yule considered the band to be the VU at this stage. https://www.discogs.com/release/1907871-VU-Final-VU-1971-1973 That said, of ...
