I forgot that Lou's audio archive is clearly documented in the NYPL listing

Not a huge amount of VU stuff, but there is *some* stuff that would surely be of interest

Re: Tea Party Tapes? Warhol reel? Any news?
Pure speculation but i doubt that Universal is interested in licensing Velvets releases to indie labels. VU are now considering a major name for reissues and Universal has their own plans for possible future reissue program. It's been like 12 years since they did first super deluxe of VU. I'll bet ...

Major Spark (with Moe on Drums!)
This appears to be new?
https://majorspark.bandcamp.com/track/the-other-side
Unmistakeable sound of Moe on drums there. Nice that she is still playing

Maggot Brain #19 VU issue
Third Man Records January issue #19 of their in-house Maggot Brain magazine is a VU special https://thirdmanstore.co.uk/blogs/news/announcing-maggot-brain-19 Not got a copy yet (and it's sold out in the UK, so I'm waiting for my copy to ship from Berlin) but the website says: ON THE COVER THE VELVET ...

Re: Sunday Morning
Without the celeste there is very little else on the track.
Vocal and bass guitar with minimal drumming
I don't hear any guitar - the only other thing is the background chord drone which sounds more like some kind of organ/mellotron than a guitar to me?

Re: Where was Squeeze recorded?
Interesting... I can't seem to lay my hands on the email anymore (it was 15+ years ago) but I seem to remember he was quite clear that the studio was specifically on Piccadilly. That would certainly make it the more obvious candidate - and this page clearly lists Deep Purple as having also recorded ...

Re: Where was Squeeze recorded?
It's quite conceivable he put all the drum tracks down in a day or two, people recorded pretty quickly in those days. That would make sense, considering that Paice wouldn't be cheap, and that Doug describes the drum tracks being done by teaching him the songs as they went Who knows how Paice might ...

Re: Where was Squeeze recorded?
Doug one told me it was a large, modern studio in Piccadilly. This makes it very likely that it would be Command Studios - which was also notable for being able to book downtime at short notice. Squeeze was done immediately after the Doug/Walter/Willie/Maureen European tour, which would put it ...
