Hans Onsager was the VU equipment/road manager for (at least) the period 1968-1970. I've always wondered what happened to him - I dont think he's ever been interviewed or published any of his memories of those times.

A little research on my part has revealed that there appears to be a 66 year old Hans Onsager living in (either) Shirley, Massachusetts or Franklin, New Hampshire. Based on the age and location, I would hazard a guess that this is "our" Hans Onsager. (I also have an old 1980s interview with Moe where she says that she doesn't know where Hans is, but that he could always be contacted through his parent(s) in Franklin, NH.)

Anyone out there live near either of these locations? A little local research might confirm this one way or another. Any takers? I'm not suggesting for a minute that someone goes out there and "stalks" this poor guy but it would be nice to know if he's the "one" or not.

I really hope someone can speak to Hans i'll sure he has some good tales. I was thinking about him when listening to the extended jams CD..

you read my mind! I also looked him up this week and wrote him a letter, to the Shirley, MA address. This was the only Hans Onsager I could find. maybe the NH one is more likely to be him. I'll let everyone know if he replies.

And did anyone ever manage to contact the guy in Franklin?

And, as an aside, I always wondered what became of Dave Faison but never managed to find out. Anyone here know the story? Did Hans Onsager take over from him as road/equipment/sound manager?
