So then, if Grand-Dad is getting on in years, and the heirs are determined to get the tapes out, it's possible they may just see release some day. Anyone agree? The museum rep is skeptical, but it sounds to me like the grandfather is the real roadblock. I'd guess the heirs don't have the final say, but anyone can see there is an audience for such an artifact. I bet something could be worked out. We did almost get Joanie Lee at one point.

Let me add, I hope it doesn't sound like I'm trying to paint anybody as a vulture waiting for the poor guy to drop... I'm just saying, if he doesn't see the value of letting the musical world hear these crucially important recordings, at least there's somebody in a possible position of leverage who does.

And both Rosie and this museum guy both say there are other, unheard reels in that vault!!

Call me a cynic if you will, but something tells me that only the first three posts (at best) in that 'Track 7' thread were actually genuine comments from the Warhol Museum. The bit you've quoted sounds to me like some asshole fantasist trying to stir up trouble and confusion. I mean, why would tapes belonging to the Warhol Museum - which have been held there for over 30 years - suddenly be in the possession of an elderly record executive in London?

Yeah maybe, who knows. Whatever happens, happens. At least we've got ours, one way or another. 8)
