Thanks for all the links friends, there are some touching eulogies surfacing.

His mom is still alive? Wow.

Mick Rock:
Mick Rock wrote:Thus began our friendship and my fascination with his image, which we endlessly explored, weathering the slings and arrows and the outrageous antics of that crazed decade, the '70s, and beyond. He was a true gladiator, a fearless warrior and also a man of extreme kindness and compassion. If he was your friend in the fullest sense, he was your friend forever. He had a singing soul. And I miss him so much already.

Can anyone with access to TIME paste the entire Mick Rock tribute? Thanks.

In related news:

A predictable posthumous US sales jump for Transformer and "Walk on the Wild Side" (quoted from a New York Times article):
New York Times wrote:Sales of Mr. Reed?s music jumped, predictably, after news of his death spread on Sunday afternoon. His solo albums sold about 3,000 copies in the United States, more than six times as many as the week before; the Velvet Underground also sold around 3,000 albums, up more than 200 percent. (SoundScan?s publicly reported numbers are rounded.)

Mr. Reed?s most popular album was ?Transformer,? from 1972, with 1,400 copies sold (up more than 500 percent, SoundScan said), and ?Walk on the Wild Side? was the most popular track, with 6,500 times. Spotify said that streams of Mr. Reed?s songs increased 3,000 percent around the world in the 12 hours after news of his death emerged.

Even with those gains none of Mr. Reed?s releases sold enough copies to crack Billboard?s album and singles charts. But his posthumous numbers will still probably be up again when the weekly sales are tabulated again, since SoundScan?s accounting period ended on Sunday evening and tributes have continued to pour in.
And Morrissey is releasing his 2011 live cover of "Satellite of Love" as a single, due 2 December (quoted from endorsed fansite True to You):
True to You wrote:Parlophone Records will release Satellite of Love by Morrissey as a digital download on December 2nd. Recorded live at the Chelsea Ballroom at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on 25 November 2011, the release will be further available in January as a heavyweight 12-inch disc and a 7-inch picture disc, supported by additional live tracks.
Satellite of Love is, of course, a song written by Lou Reed, who died on 27th October.
Finally, "Perfect Day" managed a peak position of #25 in the Dutch charts, staying in for two weeks (the second week it was at #79). No albums have re-charted so far. (For the statisticians among us, historically, "Lou Reed Live" and "Coney Island Baby" peaked highest in the Netherlands, both at #4, while "New York" had the longest chart run at 29 weeks.)

An amazing photo has turned up, I don't know if anyone here has seen it before. From the photographer, Joel Meyerowitz: ?I?ve been looking for this picture for days, ever since I heard about Lou Reed?s death. I shot it in 1968 on 5th ave, just casual shot of an interesting looking guy, only to discover later on that it was Lou Reed and John Cale.?

"Now Andy's gone, Sterling's gone, Nico's gone and Lou's gone. It feels strange. I miss them all, but I really miss Lou."

Theres this on Doug Yules blog "British filmmaker Chris Rodley fashionably attired in a violinisto [Dougs instrument company] tee shirt. Chris is putting together a documentary for the BBC on the life of Lou Reed." So Doug might appear in the programme on Lou that's on BBC4 in about 5 mins!

Duration: 1 hour
Film tribute to Lou Reed, who died in October, which looks at the extraordinarily transgressive life and career of one of rock 'n' roll's true originals.
With the help of friends, fellow musicians, critics and those who have been inspired not only by his music but also by his famously contrary approach to almost everything, the documentary looks at how Reed not only helped to shape a generation but also helped to create a truly alternative, independent rock scene, while also providing New York with its most provocative and potent soundtrack.
With contributions from Bob Ezrin, Mick Rock, Lenny Kaye, Paul Auster, Moe Tucker, Boy George, Thurston Moore, Andrew Wylie, Victor Bockris, Holly Woodlawn, Mary Woronov and Steve Hunter.

I have always been disappointed that he wasn't permitted to join in on the Hall Of Fame induction.

Does anyone know if Doug has any tapes lying around?!

Well Doug Yule wasn't featured as part of 'Lou Reed Remembered' tonight (1hr BBC4) so either theres another longer version/another documentary in the pipeline or Doug was edited out (story of his life really)..
