The guy has over 12,000 feedback / 100%. I think he knows what he's doing.

I agree that mint vinyl doesn't really exist though. 'Mint' means perfect in every respect - and with vinyl that is virtually impossible.
It is a little hard to argue with 100% positive feedback on 12,000 transactions. But just look at those pics again -- there's pretty noticeable ringwear on the front. Sure, it's a nice copy, but I think it devalues the word 'mint' when this guy describes it as 'mint minus' or whatever term he used. That looks like "VG" or "VG+" at best, to me. Maybe the vinyl is more 'minty', but we only get a picture of the record in the sleeve.

All this actually makes me feel better. When it comes time to sell off my vinyl, it should net a small fortune. Hopefully, it's my daughter selling it all off after I'm six feet under...and hopefully I never have need to sell it off while I'm still alive and kicking.
Yes - that shrink wrap could be hiding a nest of evils. I see what you mean about the ringwear - its looks shady. Its always best to under-grade any record ... then when the record is recieved the purchaser is pleasantly surprised. As you say - maybe the record is minty fresh - in which case ... it does elevate it.
I try to keep my records in EX condition if I can (EX doesn't exist anymore, apparently, but I still use it). My collection, such as it is, is a working collection ... ie I earn money from it... so I'm not so concerned as to condition. I would hesitate to describe any of my records as truly 'mint'. When selling I would never apply it.

Anyone have any background. They definitely seem rarer than the promo versions

All VU Stock singles are much rarerer than their counter promos.
I saw it yesterday. If not wrong it started at $100 but seems seller got an offer at $400 and ended the auction. I bought my copy 20 years ago or so and paid $250.00. Since that I have seen probbaly 3-4 copies on sale. IMO, $400 is a good deal for the Buyer
